As of January 1st, 2021, Psychosomatics has changed its name to the Journal of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (JACLP) and welcomed a new editorial team led by Dr. Ben Lee, the Editor-in-Chief of JACLP. Moderated by Dr. Lee, this workshop will feature the members of the JACLP editorial team and demystify the submission and review process for prospective authors and interested readers of the journal. Through this workshop, each participant would attain a better understanding of the pitfalls and pearls about preparing their manuscript while maximizing the publishability of their work for JACLP. Specific examples of common mistakes in preparing manuscripts for JACLP will be provided to the audience throughout the workshop.
First, Dr. Lee will outline the new direction and opportunities for JACLP and describe how the broader scope of the journal that reflects the rapidly evolving field of C-L psychiatry. Next, Dr. Joseph Cerimele, the Deputy Editor, will explain the changes in content along with the manuscript types and their respective requirements (the “Guide to Authors”) for JACLP. Then, Dr. Mark Oldham, the other Deputy Editor of JACLP, will explain step by step from submission to triaging to peer-review and editorial decision for each submitted manuscript. Finally, Dr. Scott Beach, the Section Editor for Education, will describe the new ACLP Case Conference Section and the overall education mission of the journal. At the end of the workshop, we will have a Q&A session with the audience to further clarify the editorial process and assist the prospective authors in their preparation of their potential manuscripts for JACLP.

Hochang Lee
John Romano Professor and Chair of Psychiatry | University of Rochester Medical Center
Hochang Benjamin (Ben) Lee, M.D. is the John Romano Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Lee is the Editor-In-Chief for Journal of the Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry (2021) and the President-Elect of International College of Psychosomatic Medicine (2022).
His primary research interests are: 1. Developing innovative models for delivery behavioral health service for medical and surgical patients. 2. Prevention of neuropsychiatric morbidity (e.g. delirium, depression, and dementia) after major surgery among the elders. Dr. Lee is also an expert in psychiatric aspects of restless legs syndrome, and Asian American mental health issues.
Dr. Lee is board certified in psychiatry with sub-specialty certification in psychosomatic medicine. His primary clinical interest is in behavioral aspects of dementia care, especially among those elders with multiple medical comorbidities. Dr. Lee completed psychiatry residency and combined neuropsychiatry/psychiatric epidemiology fellowships at Johns Hopkins after earning his MD at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.

Mark Oldham
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry | University of Rochester Medical Center
Dr. Oldham is a psychiatrist who completed a C-L fellowship at Yale. He currently serves as medical director of PRIME Medicine, the proactive arm of the psychiatric consult service at Strong Memorial Hospital. He serves as Deputy Editor of the Journal of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Treasurer of the American Delirium Society and Chair of the Proactive C-L SIG. In collaboration with the Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative, he also leads efforts to harmonize delirium efforts across the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Dr. Oldham’s academic focus is delirium. He advocates for a novel framework of delirium called “delirium disorder,” which refines terminology, offers a preliminary set of physiological delirium types and aims to integrate the fields of delirium and acute encephalopathy. Joseph Cerimele
Assistant professor | University of Washington
Dr. Joseph Cerimele is a psychiatrist with clinical and research interests in outpatient CL including telehealth and collaborative care in primary care settings, with an emphasis on individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Dr. Cerimele also has an interest in working on medical journals, editorial work, and physician scholarship. Dr. Cerimele is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Scott Beach
Program Director | Massachusetts General Hospital
Dr. Scott R. Beach is the Program Director for the MGH/McLean Adult Psychiatry Residency, an attending psychiatrist on the MGH Psychiatry Consultation and Acute Psychiatric Services, and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed a residency in Adult Psychiatry at the University of Virginia. He finished a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital in 2011 and was awarded Dupont-Warren and Livingston research fellowships through HMS. Dr. Beach has developed clinical and scholarly areas of expertise in QT prolongation and psychiatric medications, catatonia and related syndromes, neuropsychiatric effects of COVID-19, and deception syndromes.
